Get Beautiful Weaves And Other Pinoy Finds At This Weekend Fair

Once a year in September, Metro Manila shoppers get the opportunity to buy handmade and hand-woven home and fashion accessories at the annual Likhang Habi Market Fair.

Now, you don’t have to wait five more months to get your hands on these unique Pinoy finds, as popular Filipiniana lifestyle brand Kultura Filipino partners with HABI, the Philippine Textile Council, for a special fair at the Mega Fashion Hall this April 13 to 15.

LIKHANG HABI X KULTURA’s aim to bring the country’s handmade, artisanal products closer to the public, so that they could buy and enjoy the products and appreciate Filipino artistry as well. Here are some of the finds:

Pineapple pillows by Yakang Yaka Barter.

Kelly Mortensen, Yakang Yaka Barter’s founder, partners with weaving communities such as the Yakans and the Tausugs and collaborates with popular Pinoy designers to come up with contemporary home décor and fashion accessories such as pillows, mats, and shoes.

Scarves and other tribal weaves

An abundance of handwoven items (either as fashion accessories, mats, or uncut cloths) from Interweave Concepts, Narda’s, and Philippine Cotton Handwoven Textiles will all be for sale at the event.

Cool patches by Twinkle Ferraren

HABI always tries to bring handmade and woven items translated into modern accessories, such as these super-cool patches by Twinkle.

Bags and earrings by Good Luck Humans

We’ve featured former Real Living editor in chief Apol Lejano Massebieau’s handmade button creations in the form of pillows and stools in the past. Here, she sells her popular button bags, clutches, necklaces, and earrings.

Cotton plant kits by MNL Grow Kits

MNL Grow Kits, pioneers in the local grow kit industry, partnered with HABI to create a special cotton plant-growing kit to help revitalize the local cotton industry (our cotton are mostly sourced abroad). When you grow the plant at home, the plant blossoms and forms cotton balls that you can actually use!

If you’re lucky, you’ll get to taste authentic Mindanao snacks prepared by a Tausug lady at the venue.

Drop by LIKHANG HABI X KULTURA at G/F Mega Fashion Hall, SM Megamall, Mandaluyong City, from April 13 to 15, 2018.
